Zoo Day!

There are SO many benefits to homeschooling and I won't lie. I love it! Yes, there are difficult times/days but let me just tell you there is nothing sweeter than seeing your littles learn from each other, communicate better, and have a passion for learning. I love being able to see every step he is taking and as long as he loves being around his family (wink wink) why quit? ;) Another benefit is being able to take advantage of special homeschool days at different places, such as the zoo last week. We got in super cheap and were able to see how many more families are schooled at home and learn new things about animals. Thank you Nana for joining our adventure! :)

This kid loves maps!

Getting ready for the show. :)

The baby Rhino!! :)

A picture by the crane in honor of Kung Fu Panda Crane. ;)

Thank you Nana!!

The baby chimpanzee. Hard to see her but she was definitely amusing to watch!
Thanks to Nana's spray bottles, when we got home we had a little fun spraying each other. ;)

School rocks! :)

School is Rockin!

I'm a tad behind on posts (what's new right? ;) but with school in full speed it's excusable right? ;) Aidan has been doing wonderful at school! We are SO SO very proud of him. He's been hitting everything right on target and even ahead. He's been reading on a 1st grade level and mastering all of his subjects each day.
Our morning meeting calendar.

Bible time and weekly "reading/sight" words.

Bible Time art: 1st seven days of creation

Welcome to Kindergarten! :)

Working on his writing skills. :)

Science=Slime!

Me working on Abigail's "Tot books" one night, to introduce and play with. :)

Fitting in quite nicely. ;)

Our poke board. Thanks to Ikea's foam in the packing we just use this for fine motor skills. ;)

This girl LOVES her sensory tubs!

The library has become our bestest friend. ;)

Not quite sure what to do with the slime...

Now she knows! :)

Rice and Bean sensory buckets.

Since rice and bean sensory buckets were a huge hit...I added popcorn and beads. :)

Working on our rainmaker for Bible Time (Noah and the flood)

No I'm not cruel...this girl LOVES to peel off tape from the table. So why not keep her occupied!? I believe it falls under working on fine motor skills right!? ;)
And we've come up with a reading chart incentive for Aidan (kind of like a book club). For every 10 books/stories he reads he gets a new book. His 1st pick of choice was Magic Tree House #1: Dinosaurs Before Dark. :) We are actually thrilled to start reading these series of chapter books to him and so far he LOVES it!

So very proud of our little learners at Jones Academy! :)

PS. Adelyn is not left out...she just happens to be learning through her sleep. ;)

Kindergarten for Aidan!

I won't cry. I won't cry. I won't cry. Really...I won't because I'm pretty sure I got it all out the day before his 5th birthday and maaaybe a week ago just thinking how he's growing up so quickly. Now that it's over (for now) I've honestly been super excited about our little guy starting Kindergarten. His curriculum will be on a Kindergarten/1st grade level. And I'm fairly confident by Christmas break his entire curriculum will consist of 1st grade. However, we'll get there when we do and I'm going to thoroughly enjoy every bit of this year and the days to come. Even though Aidan has been in "school" (pre-preK and Pre-K) at home for the past 2 years, Aidan is SO SO excited to start his new BIG books at Jones Academy with Mrs. Mommy. ;) I'm expecting fun days along with the difficult so feel free to join our family in prayers.

To help, I have even prepared Abigail to have her "school" time with fun hands-on activities and homemade Tot books with activities in them. Of course, I know to expect some roaming but it takes practice right? ;)

All this to say...We are ready to enjoy a fun year! I'm incredibly thankful for a little guy who loves learning!
