As I start blogging this I was trying to think if we even did a jack-o-lantern last year. :/ I'm fairly certain my memory just gets worse with each kid so I'm thankful for blogs and pictures. I know that we normally do the potato head pumpkins. Aidan normally has a pirate, Abigail the princess, and Adelyn has Cookie Monster. Anyway, this year Aidan didn't want the pirate but instead he wanted a carved pumpkin. So a week before on Saturday morning we gathered around the table and began!
We read this book every year with the kids about a farmer who grows pumpkins and makes it into a jack-o-lantern. It has bible verses in there to symbolize it with God (the Farmer) picks us out the "patch," washes us, cleanses us from the inside (the goop and seeds) and makes us new (a jack-o-lantern) so our light (light inside) can shine bright for Jesus. If you don't have this I highly recommend it for young children. A great book with great illustrations and easy to read!
Aidan then filled out his paper for school. ;)
Let the carving begin!!!!
Our pumpkin family!
Happy Fall!
