F for Firehouse Field Trip

Last week we met with other homeschoolers (and our friends) to take part in a tour at our local firehouse. It was perfect timing since we just ended our week of F fun! It was their first time so there was so much to soak in so that means we'll definitely be back for another tour. :)

The front part of the house was the museum where the kids got to see old fireman suits, masks, hats, medals, etc from the 1920's to the present. It was really neat!

Aidan's back is in the picture. He's touching a piece of building from the 9/11 tragedy

Listening and learning about the hoses

Aidan and Abigail on the right listening intently!

I love how Aidan takes care of Abigail to make her feel safe. They get to go inside the ambulance.

Inside the firetruck!

I was SO glad they had someone put on the fire suit. That was the one thing I really wanted them to do. I wanted to make sure they saw what it was like up close. Maybe because I could see how scary they could look with their mask but wanted the kids to feel safe and comfortable if anything ever happened.

Bless this guy. I'm sure it got so hot just trying on the suit!

They all got to touch the suit and listen to him speak (which isn't very loud with a mask on!)

They had so much fun and we look forward to our next visit!!
