Earth Day 2013

Earth day 2013 was a blast!

In all honesty, this is really the first year we've celebrated it with the kids (and ourselves since elementary) because I finally felt they were age appropriate to start remembering and introducing these days during the year. Now don't get me wrong, I may miss some random holiday (like a big St. Patrick's Day celebration party this year) but when I get the time, I always love to introduce them to new things.

This year we had close friends come over to help celebrate God creating the Earth and talked about how we can take care of our planet by being responsible with our trash, saving electricity and water, and recycling/reusing. Such a fun day with fun kids!

Making "Earth" cupcakes :)

The kids loved them and thought they were "the coolest!"

We then decided to take a walk and help the Earth by picking up trash around the neighborhood.

And then make a collage of trash!

It was a great visual to see why we need to take care of our planet.

Aidan and Abigail's hard work on Earth Day!
I'm fairly certain it made an impact because still to this day (3 weeks later), I have Aidan talking about recycling, wanting to pick up trash if we're out, or saving plastic milk jugs from McDonald's wanting to reuse them. ;) (You can imagine my thoughts right? ha!) I'm thankful my little guy loves taking care of this Earth!!
