We decided to color eggs on Saturday night and to be a bit honest, the whole time, I couldn't understand why so many people partook in this tradition. I mean don't get me wrong, it was fun for the kids but is it something worth stressing over or spending money on? I just didn't think so. :/ Am I a bad mom to sit there thinking "what's the point of this?" "How does this have anything to do with Jesus?" "Why are we doing this? (besides it's fun and the world does this)" So all that to say, while it was fun for the kids to partake in the color fun, I'm not so certain this will be a yearly tradition for us. I may do this during a week celebrating spring but eh, is a favorite like our resurrection rolls (that have purpose)? Not so much.
In the meantime I give you egg coloring! For the sole purpose of "science" ;) ha!
This year we tried a new recipe with kool-aide as the dye. While it smelled good, it wasn't as good as the egg kits for .99 cents. ;) The color tended to rub off a little and the purple turned more of a black. :/ Plus who wants to spend money on one packet of kool-aide to dye an egg and then waste it!? Oh well, it was an experiment and worth trying it. :)
