Keeping Up with the Jones: 1st day of 5!

As the days approached to Aidan turning the big 5, I admit, I was a little weepy and just really not looking forward to my oldest turning 5. I mean FIVE! That's getting up there people. And it has nothing to do with making me feel old (promise!). It's just a new journey, an exciting one for sure but just different. No longer my "preschooler." So when the morning hit I guess I had that all out of my system because let me tell you, I was right there with him celebrating with excitement! So fun was how today went.

Even Avery knew it was a special occasion as she greeted him with birthday kisses in bed this morning. :)

So as you recall I was expected to do a "tornado birthday." Hmm. Then we went to "Angry Birds". Then "the Hulk" birthday. Then "Family" birthday. Well finally a couple of weeks before we settled on Angry Birds and Family because that was actually the most common answer when asked what kind of birthday. A special thank you to Gramps for introducing him to the game a few months ago. ;) This kid LOVES this game!! Of course, Josh thinks it's a great "physics and problem solving" game and after all the talk about it, I went ahead and tried it out. Um...yep, Angry Birds Rio is now on my phone...played often. ;)

So I give you Aidan's ANGRY BIRD Birthday!

Morning sunshine! SURPRISE!

Daddy did a great job on the cake! And before everyone was up we surprised him with his brand new bike and helmet! Then enjoyed a family breakfast with his favorite, sausage and biscuits. :)

Hello to Aidan's "birthday lizard!" Josh and Aidan caught him in our backyard this morning, did some investigating, let him go, and I kid you not, that "birthday lizard" somehow made his way back into our house that evening into Aidan's new hat (in our living room by the fireplace). We have NO idea how that happened but in our words...God is so fun!
