One of our Easter traditions is the Resurrection eggs. Josh's mom bought these for us two years ago for the kids and we love it. The kids LOVE it. In fact, they can't wait for their bath to be over so we can do the eggs. We start 12 days before Easter and tell a short part of the story each night (1 egg) leading up to Resurrection Sunday.
And we also do Easter baskets. However, we do the baskets and hunting eggs on the Saturday before because Josh and I agreed we never wanted the "baskets" to take over on the true meaning of why we celebrate. We do not do the "Easter bunny" for the same reason we don't do Santa Clause. We are not stealing their joy of the holidays and don't ruin it for them. I'm pretty sure they could care less about the bunny. ;)
So the Saturday before Easter before breakfast we surprised the kids with their Easter baskets and a small egg hunt around our living room.
Why yes, I did let them indulge in some chocolate before breakfast. ;)
This was Abigail's 1st time to really hunt for eggs and I'm pretty sure if she could just get passed opening the eggs (and eating the candy) after finding them and waiting until the end, she would have had more eggs. Good thing Aidan helped and has such a patient heart. :) After that we all headed out to Josh's mom's church for their egg hunt. Such a fun time for the kids and great memories. I'm hoping to get pictures soon. :)
Please remember my family in your prayers. This was also the day that my grandmother (Meeme) passed away (Mom's mother). She was such a sweet and giving lady that will truly be missed.
