One of the things I love is walking by the school room and seeing the kids just "being." When they go in their alone and just want to color, draw, or read a book it makes me proud. So proud that they WANT to be there and doing something creative.
One week we worked on our W-Water unit. "Jesus gives my spirit living water to drink." We had so much fun learning about creatures in the water, etc. "And the more he gave away, the more delighted he became." -The Rainbow Fish
Aidan's art for the week of studying Norway was Rosemaling. It's a traditional form of decorative folk art that originated in the rural valleys of Norway.
Abigail is working on her Water week with finding magazine pictures of Water in a solid, liquid, and gas.
Aidan is excited about winning his geography game with me. ha! It seems he is learning his European countries a lot better than his mother. ;)

Heidi by Johanna Spyri. "God certainly knows of some happiness for us which He is going to bring out of trouble, only we must have patience and not run away."
We loved this story and can't wait to read it numerous times. In fact, I caught the kids reenacting the story several time during "free play." Ha!
The girls made honecombs for I week (Insects). Like insects our new saying this week was, "I am a wise child, so I work hard." Inside their honecombs they used rice as eggs, beans as larvae, and brown paper for honey. Of course, EVERYONE's favorite part was snack time. Honey on crackers! ha!
I love this picture. This is Aidan enjoying his math lesson when we used measurements for a recipe. Brownies are always fun in math time! ;) Aidan LOVES reading to his sisters! :) Of course, they love it too.
Aidan working during Spelling class.
And those apples with raisins? You're really seeing "ladybugs" for lunch time treat. ;) I love that simplicity brings so much joy to a child.

And Abigail got her first letter from her pen pal in Michigan. She has a new pen pal from American Heritage Girls. They are both in a troop but in different states. So this should be a fun year getting to know a new friend!
Busy busy at Jones Academy!
