A rare cool summer evening and my view only made me stop and marvel at God's goodness in the small things. The things that matter to Him. It's so easy to get rushed and caught up into Time and all that it demands. With our days filled with school, prepping meals, cleaning dishes, laundry, and picking up the house. And did I mention more laundry? I've been working on seeing the blessings of those things, such as dirty dishes that prove of full bellies and a home filled with food. It's hard to see most of the time but this rare night just made my heart full.
My view from our broken and worn swing was filled with watching eyes on our growing son who jumps at the chance to water the yard and garden. Afterwards when he says he is "done," he then tries different motions and pressure to "test" which is better, occasionally "cutting" the water with his hand. Remember doing that?
All the while, the girls are on the right of me in the swing, filled with giggles at watching Aidan "cut the water" with his hand or trying to get a drink from a high pressured hose. Making his tongue and cheek swing to the right, with surprising shock and a little pain. Silly times right there!! Love that boy!!
And then this happens...
Did you see all that? My view of loving sisters caught in the sweetest moments. The best view. I was mesmerized in their moment that I won't ever "get." I don't have a sister so I won't understand the bond they will have while growing (Including the new little one on the way). I just hear it's a bond that can't be broken. The Lord is using these girls to teach me. Isn't it beautiful!?
Life is FULL of thanksgiving and I'm so thankful for moments that stop me and let me praise Him.

Thank you for sharing this sweet time of love between the girls. As an only child, I missed this closeness with a sibling, too. But, I have to say that God blessed me with a special daughter that has grown into a special friend to me and also is my 'sister' in Christ. I love the closeness (and laughter) we share. I look forward to sharing this bond with my granddaughters, too!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Father, for the legacy you started with Mama (my grandmother). Even though her ways of showing love were a little less 'touchy-feely', she shared the love of Christ with everyone she came into contact with. And also for Meeme, who always showed me unconditional love and made me appreciate a good laugh (until you cry). Ahhh...the joy of The Lord...what blessings He has given me.
Love you,
Mom/Nana
