1st week of School!

We started school on August 4th (earlier than normal) so we could have a little more time off in December when baby comes. :) Needless to say, the kids were excited and ready to start their new books and dig into new school supplies! :)

Aidan's desk area filled with surprise goodies for the 1st day!
 Abigail's school area!
They were super excited to get to paint their picture so we could hang it in our school room for the new year. :)

We even went over the pledge of allegiance and some of those hard terms. ;) Of course, we went over our new books later.

The school principal even had apple truffles delivered to the teacher on the 1st day! Isn't he the best!? ;)

Now the rest of the week (and following)...you can bet we were up to our sillies and having so much fun!!

Working on fine motor skills and getting those hand muscles ready...(picking out hidden beads in play-doh)

 Scissor skill practice!
In Bible time we were learning about names and how they mean something. (that later leads to the names of Jesus):)
Aidan made a name bracelet (along with other activities)

 Abigail reviewing and matching letters!

Spelling word practice! 2nd grade has it's advantages doesn't it... ;)

Working on Christopher Columbus ships in history...

Getting ready to sail them across the Atlantic Ocean from Spain to the New World...

As you know, there were no motors so we made our own wind since that's exactly what they depended on. ;)

And some Mommy yoga that ended up with three little kids joining. I'm not sure if I laughed more and actually reaped benefits of the workout. ha!

As you can see we had a great first couple of  weeks!

I ended the 2nd week of school with hearing quotes such as:
"You are THE best teacher!"
"I LOVE school!"
"I can't wait for school tomorrow"
 "I love history!"
"Can you we do art again?"

Extremely thankful the Lord is getting us through each day! Although my days are filled and often difficult He reminds me through my children why I have the best job and I can push ahead with full confidence of the calling He has given me to educate at home.

"Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the LORD Almighty." -Zechariah 4:6

  1. I am so proud of your commitment to teach "the kids" at home. You and doing a GREAT job, not only teaching the kids "book smarts", but they are also learning to interact with each other and learning about things they wouldn't get in "public" school!
Love you and wish you a WONDERFUL year!!
