So we dived in a little earlier this year and are still learning a lot! In fact, so much so that my children are telling me they are tired around 5:30 pm and ready for bed. Now that's the brain wanting to recoup for ya! ;) In fact, I could probably crawl right in the bed with them since it's taking a bit more energy (still) learning to balance three little ones while teaching. Whew, what a job (that I wouldn't trade!)! I tried to document as much as I could last week with Abigail learning the letter A and Aidan being introduced to his new material but it was a tad difficult trying to take pics of every little thing.
This is a felt board given from my mother. It was my great-grandmothers felt board that she used to teach bible stories on a long time ago to my mom and neighbors. In fact, if I remember correctly she used to teach VBS with it (am I right Mom?) . A neat piece of history that my children can play on. So I made shapes and some basic pieces for the kids to play with...

Okay...get ready for a little trip down "memory lane" about my grandmother's (Mama) felt board! Not only did she use it for the neighborhood summer "VBS", she taught ME (Nana) the alphabet on that board! I didn't go to "public" Kindergarten, so she taught me from a little corner in her dining room/kitchen. So, that board has seen a lot of "learnin'" in it's time! She used it with many "flannel-graph" Bible stories (one of my favorites was "Barney's Barrell"). During her summer VBS, she had her flannel board set up in the "shop" to tell Bible stories and served the neiborhood kids cookies & Kool-aid, which was a treat for them! She loved sharing about God's love for them and planted many "seeds" during her years of loving the Lord! So, you should feel all that love, too, as you learn from "Mama's board"!
ReplyDeleteLove you,
Nana (Mom)
