A weekend ago...

The weekend before Easter (this one) we enjoyed each other's company with making our own pizza's during family fun movie night...

Then Saturday we had thunderstorms and rain and Aidan couldn't wait to make our very own "Thunder cake." I had read the story to him a few days before at bed time and he was so anxious to make one that I had told him we needed to wait until it rained and thundered (1. The recipe was in the back...whew! and 2. I didn't have all the ingredients so I needed to buy some time to stock up ;). Luckily I had enough time to get the ingredients beforehand because that Saturday he woke up ready to make it when he heard the thunder at breakfast. So after lunch we began the Thunder cake!

After nap they got to help spread icing on it, top it with strawberries and EAT it!

It didn't take long in the process to realize how that was MY first "real" cake to make (meaning non-box cake) and the first time to sift flour,etc. And I won't lie, my arms were a little sore afterwards. Now I know why pioneer women stayed in shape. ;) Sheesh! What a workout! ;) Anyway, it was 100% worth it and we all enjoyed it!! Such a fun weekend (even with the rain)!
