Adelyn Naomi's Birthday

I'm sitting here having the desire to blog (with a cup of coffee in hand) instead of indulging in a nap this morning at 9 a.m. (that my sweet husband suggested..the nap of course). I have been wanting to blog our sweet Adelyn's birth story for a few days now and since I have a few minutes I'd like to share it with you. :) So beware...it's a long one. :)

Let me start off by saying what a week it was that led up to this sweet girl's birth. All in God's hands as each (what seemed slow) day passed. On Sunday, February 5th I woke up with a lot more pain and just not feeling well at all and honestly, thought our Lovebug was going to arrive any day now. With that in mind, we loaded the kids and headed to Arlington to stay with my parents until Adelyn made her arrival within a couple of days. Well...we waited. And waited. And waited. Tuesday I had my 38 week appointment and if you remember I was only 60% effaced and 3 inches dilated and left very discouraged. I ended up meeting a sweet friend (last minute) to mall walk to get things going. I kept thinking surely I was more with the way I was feeling and contracting. So after some walking and determination to get her to meet everyone I ended up going to the Triage on Tuesday night and left at 4 cm dilated and about 80% effaced. With the nurse saying and predicting she would be here by Wed or Thurs. So back to my parents we went. I was prepared, packed, and ready to go on Wed! This would be the day! Nope. Just intense contractions. Thursday was the same way, in fact, tears wanted to make their way out as I woke up to another day of intense pain and a big belly. BUT God knew! Because during this entire week, Abigail and Aidan were getting sick (horrible cough and runny nose). Josh actually got to take them to our home (which they enjoyed seeing) and their pediatrician to get them well. Abigail had an ear infection (which never cleared from the double ear infection the previous week) and we knew for sure Aidan was okay but just had seasonal allergies kick in (coughing and runny nose). So thankfully (isn't God good!?) Abigail was put on a stronger antibiotic to clear this up before becoming a big sister.

So back to the story...Friday rolls around and I'm experiencing some pretty hard contractions. During the week it was normal for mine to last hours for about 1-3 minutes apart and since I am a VBAC patient I was basically just waiting for my water to break since they could not induce in any way. Well enough was enough and Josh and I headed to Labor and Delivery because the pain was just enough and I knew there was progress made I wanted to check how much. Around 4:30 pm. we made our way to the hospital Triage and (insert Halleluaja chorus here) was admitted! The nurse checked my progress and I was already 5 cm and fully effaced! In fact, she was shocked that I was not admitted on Tuesday (imagine my frustration when she told me that!) and if she was there would have! Enough said right!? BUT...God knew right!? ;) Isn't it like Him to lead our events in life in such a fashion that we need them just to teach us and lead us to Him and trust in His plan? So here we go...into my room, IV's started, me SO excited it's TIME!, nurses joking about which of the two patients will deliver first (me or one other-they obviously were rooting for me since the other one had been there since 5am), and Josh calling and texting family and friends! Did I mention how excited I am at this point!? Upon our quick arrival at 4:30 my contractions were getting intense and I asked for the Epidural (So thankful I did since they can't give it at 7 cm dilated...at that point I was a 5-6cm). Dr. Fielder came in to break my water (imagine my face then as I told/asked.."I didn't think you could break my water with a VBAC." His response, "Oh no, that's the one thing we CAN do!") Now can you picture my face of shock? Of course, all trying to give it back to the Lord who is in control of timing. ;) I asked the Dr. if this meant a baby would be here within the hour and he laughed and said he didn't think so. An hour later and a Dr who barely finished his dinner was on his way up. ;) Things moved so quickly afterwards I went from an 8-9 to a 10 in about 10 minutes and had Josh get the nurse since I felt ready to go.

And 2 hours from being admitted to the hospital we met our sweet Adelyn Naomi at 6:35 p.m. It was the easiest, quickest (about 10 minutes of pushing), and best delivery yet and wouldn't change a thing. I can't get over the feeling of joy and goodness that came afterwards. Adelyn did have such a quick delivery that the nurses from the NICU needed to come up to suction fluid on her lungs since she was having a tough time breathing. So thankful it was quick and everything was okay. Only the Lord knew this entire time of waiting! I have to thank all of my friends and family who prayed over us during the tough week of waiting and through delivery! I can't imagine it without them.

So while we wait for Adelyn to make her appearance...this is a little taste of our sillies at Papa's and Nana's house. What to do with balloons? Make static electricity so balloons stick to your head!
SO SO excited and ready!
My superman!

She's here! 7 lbs and 11.8 oz. 19 inches long (our biggest baby!)-Aidan:4lbs.1oz-Abigail-5lbs.8oz
Our newest love!
Beautiful baby girl, Adelyn.
Incredibly thankful to all our family and friends who showered Adelyn with gifts of love!
(I couldn't leave out these incredible cake pops delivered and made for us from Sena!)
Going home on February 12th. :)
In motion to home sweet home!

Incredible. :)
As I look at the verse in my coffee cup, it says, "He fills my life with good things." Psalm 103:5. I couldn't agree more!
Off to finish today with my one amazing husband and THREE incredible children.

Now, if you're wondering how Aidan and Abigail are adjusting you'll have to wait until next time. ;) I'll just say one word...proud. :)
